I’m Tangier J. Lemon, a Licensed Master Social Worker who believes therapy should feel supportive, comfortable, and real. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, and major life transitions, with a particular interest in women’s mental health, pregnancy and postpartum transitions, motherhood, and relationships. My style is warm, collaborative, and direct. I want you to have a space where you can show up as you are without feeling like you need to have everything figured out. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening, identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, and build on the strengths you already have. I believe therapy is something we do together. You bring your lived experience, and I bring curiosity, perspective, and practical tools to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your relationships, and move forward in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy doesn't require you to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes you just know that something isn't working, life feels heavier than usual, or you're ready to understand yourself and your relationships differently. I'm a Licensed Master Social Worker who works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, and major life transitions. I work with both men and women and have a particular interest in women's mental health, pregnancy and postpartum transitions, motherhood, identity, and relationship concerns. I also enjoy working with individuals and couples who want to strengthen communication, better understand recurring patterns, and feel more connected in their relationships. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and direct. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself in our sessions, but I also believe therapy should be an active process. We'll talk about what's happening now, explore the experiences and patterns that may be influencing it, and identify realistic ways to help you move forward. I use an integrative approach that may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, strengths-based work, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and Gottman-informed relationship interventions when appropriate. Rather than expecting you to fit into one particular approach, I tailor our work to your needs, goals, and lived experience. You already bring strengths, experiences, and insight into the room. My job is to help you make sense of them, offer another perspective, provide practical tools, and create a space where we can work through the difficult parts together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

With every client, I start by getting a clear picture of what's brought you in right now: what's felt hard, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping will be different. Our first session or two focuses on that groundwork, your history, your goals, and whether we feel like a good fit for the work ahead. From there we settle into a rhythm. Most clients meet weekly at first, then move to biweekly as things stabilize. Sessions run 45 to 50 minutes and usually follow whatever's most present for you that week, while staying connected to the bigger patterns and goals we've set together. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all session, depending on what you need, we might use CBT tools to work through a specific situation, sit with something psychodynamically to understand where a pattern comes from, or build a concrete, solution-focused plan for the week ahead. If you're coming in as a couple, expect a Gottman-informed approach: we'll look closely at how you communicate, where things get stuck, and what actually strengthens connection between you. For clients navigating pregnancy, postpartum, or the identity shifts that come with motherhood, this is genuine clinical interest of mine, not an afterthought, and it shapes how I show up in session. Mindfulness shows up too, not as a mandate, but as a tool for slowing down and noticing what's actually happening in your body and mind. Above all, I want our sessions to feel like a space where you can be direct, including with feedback about what is or isn't working. Therapy works best as a collaboration, and I'll check in regularly to make sure we're headed somewhere that matters to you.
