Getting to know Tanitoluwa Bankale

I’m an independently licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship concerns, life transitions, self-esteem, and family or trans-generational patterns. My approach recognizes how relationships, family systems, and life experiences influence emotional well-being. I use evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Contextual Therapy, and Gottman-informed couples work to help clients develop healthier patterns, strengthen relationships, manage challenges, and build resilience. I believe therapy should be both supportive and purposeful. My goal is to create a space where clients feel understood while also being encouraged to examine unhelpful thoughts, behaviors, and relationship patterns. Whether you are working through a difficult transition, relationship concern, grief, anxiety, or longstanding family patterns, I aim to help you gain insight, develop practical tools, and move toward healthier and more fulfilling relationships with yourself and others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m humorous, considerate, encouraging, and genuine, but I’m also direct when it can help you make meaningful progress. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, honest, and focused on your goals. You can expect to feel heard and supported while also being encouraged to look at the patterns, thoughts, and behaviors that may be affecting your well-being or relationships. My goal is for you to leave therapy with greater clarity, practical tools, and a stronger sense of resilience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session focuses on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, establishing rapport, and reviewing relevant background and safety concerns. Together, we identify your primary concerns and begin establishing treatment goals. By approximately the third session, I typically develop and review a treatment plan with you. Throughout therapy, we regularly check in on your progress, prioritize goals, and adjust the approach as your needs evolve. This keeps treatment individualized, focused, and responsive to your progress.
