Tanya Dawson, LCSW

Tanya Dawson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
Tanya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of Hunter College Silberman's School of Social Work, part of the City University of New York, where she earned her Master's in Social Work. Tanya specializes in Attachment therapy, with over 10 years of experience working with individuals and families, including four years of post-training direct practice in parent-child attachment therapy. She is passionate about fostering healing within individuals by building therapeutic rapport and exploring unresolved past or present internal conflicts. Tanya believes that healthy attachment between parent and child during early stages of life shapes and creates a secure internal world for the child, who becomes the adult we see today. Using a psychodynamic approach and exploring intergenerational attachments and relationships, you and Tanya will explore what you believe are the underlying issues of your distress. Tanya will partner with you to examine the possibilities of early childhood trauma and ruptures between the child and caretaker. These early emotional wounds may interrupt early attachments and manifest in adult life and relationships. Through dialogue within a safe, nonjudgmental holding space, you and Tanya will explore your past or present experiences in an effort to find meaning, resolve, and healing.
