Psychotherapist
MO
Are you seeking a therapist who will truly listen, collaborate with you, and honor your lived experience? I'm Tanya, and I believe therapy should be a partnership—where you remain the expert of your life and I offer support, insight, and tools along the way. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Born and raised on the west side of St. Louis city, I bring a deep understanding of the community and culture I serve. My practice is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and a deep respect for your unique story. I specialize in supporting women through all life stages, individuals with complex trauma, attachment concerns, anxiety, depression, and those navigating relationship, identity, and work-related challenges. I work with adults and older adolescents in individual therapy, using a blend of talk therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. Over the past decade, I’ve worked as an outpatient therapist and in-home community health worker. Much of my experience has focused on partnering with pregnant and parenting clients, as well as those who have felt dismissed or overwhelmed by life, relationships, or their mental health needs. Whether you’re wrestling with past experiences or trying to figure out what’s next, we can work together to find clarity and healing. My approach is collaborative and supportive. I’ll meet you where you are—whether you're feeling stuck, ready to change, or just beginning to explore what healing looks like. I value introspection, goal-setting, and empowerment, and together we’ll explore your strengths, challenges, and the path ahead. Therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or cold. It can be warm, insightful, and even transformative. Let’s take that first step—together. I specialize in working with clients navigating complex trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and identity formation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, conversational, and compassionate—direct when needed, but always supportive. I provide a nonjudgmental space where you can bring your full self, including the parts you may feel ashamed of. I ask thoughtful questions, reflect back patterns, and help you make connections in a gentle, grounding way. Humor, spiritual integration (if desired), and practical strategies are often part of the process. Whether you need space to vent, process trauma, or develop concrete coping skills, I adapt to what you need while keeping us focused on your growth. I became a therapist because I’ve seen how emotional wounds—especially from childhood, trauma, or unmet emotional needs—shape our sense of worth and belonging. My path includes years in medical, military, and community mental health settings, supporting individuals across all walks of life. With an MSW and MBA, I understand both systems and souls. My own experiences as a caregiver, advocate, and woman of faith inform how I show up: grounded, empathetic, and real. This work isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. I help clients clarify what they truly want—not just what they’ve been told they “should” want. We start by identifying what’s getting in the way, then work together to set realistic, values-based goals. I use strengths-based interventions, emotional insight work, and narrative therapy to support you in reclaiming agency over your life. We explore internalized beliefs and build new patterns through small, sustainable steps. Progress isn't always linear, and that’s okay—I’ll help you track change, celebrate wins, and navigate setbacks without shame.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is focused on building comfort and trust. I’ll ask about what brought you in, what you’re hoping to work on, and what has (or hasn’t) worked in past support systems. We move at your pace—you don’t have to share everything right away. I want to understand who you are, not just what you’re struggling with. Together, we’ll start identifying patterns, priorities, and possible goals. You’ll leave feeling heard, supported, and with a better sense of what healing could look like for you.
