Tanya Samuelian, LMFT

Psychotherapist
16530 Ventura Blvd, Suite 400, Encino, CA
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, offering virtual therapy for individuals and couples anywhere in California. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Lutheran University. Most of the people I work with look like they’re “doing fine” on the outside—career, relationships, responsibilities—but underneath, they feel anxious, burnt out, or disconnected. If you’re juggling perfectionism, relationship challenges, or just trying to keep up with life’s transitions, therapy can be your pause button. A space to step back, breathe, and actually hear yourself again. My approach is warm, collaborative, and real. I pull from Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive behavioral tools—blending depth with practical strategies you can actually use day-to-day. Therapy with me is meant to feel both supportive and transformative: a place where you’re understood, gently challenged, and reminded you don’t have to carry it all alone.

Getting to know Tanya Samuelian

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make the process feel safe, supportive, and grounded. Sessions with me are collaborative—I’m not here to give you a list of “fixes,” but to help you slow down, notice patterns, and find new ways of moving through what feels heavy. You can expect a mix of reflection and practical tools. I draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive behavioral techniques, but always tailor the approach to what feels most helpful for you. Sometimes that looks like exploring deeper emotions and past experiences; other times it’s about real-time strategies to manage stress, anxiety, or relationship dynamics. I want therapy to feel both supportive and transformative: a place where you feel fully seen, gently challenged, and reminded that you don’t have to do it all alone. -- Please note: My practice is focused on providing psychotherapy services. I do not provide disability evaluations, SSI/SSDI determinations, court-ordered evaluations, emotional support animal assessments, or related documentation. __ PLEASE NOTE: This practice is private pay only and does not accept insurance. Thank you for scheduling an appointment. To prepare for your first session, please complete the following steps: 1. Check your email for an invitation to the SimplePractice client portal and complete all intake paperwork. 2. Add a credit card to your client portal. A card on file is required prior to your appointment. 3. If your appointment is virtual, your telehealth link will be available through the SimplePractice portal. If your appointment is in person, location details will be included in your appointment confirmation. If you do not receive your portal invitation, please check your spam folder or contact me directly. All required paperwork and payment information must be completed prior to your first appointment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together usually starts with slowing down and getting clear on what’s bringing you in—whether that’s anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, or just feeling stuck. I’ll ask questions to better understand your story, your goals, and the patterns you’ve noticed in your life. From there, sessions tend to be a mix of reflection and practical tools. Some days we’ll dive deeper into exploring emotions and past experiences that may be shaping the present. Other days we’ll focus on strategies you can use right away—like grounding techniques, communication tools, or ways to ease stress. Therapy with me isn’t one-size-fits-all. I adapt our process to your needs, so over time, you’ll build insight, develop coping skills, and start to feel more connected and grounded in your day-to-day life.
