NC
I’m Tasbeel Khan, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate (LCASA). I believe therapy is a collaborative journey where feeling understood, supported, and respected can create the foundation for meaningful healing. I work with adults and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction and recovery concerns, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, emotional difficulties, and life transitions. I also support women navigating the emotional challenges of pregnancy and the postpartum period. My approach is compassionate, person-centered, and practical. I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients understand their thoughts and behaviors, build healthier coping skills, strengthen motivation, and work toward goals that are meaningful to them. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can be honest about what you are experiencing and feel supported as you work toward positive change. I believe you do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes, the first step is simply having someone who will listen and walk alongside you. Where understanding meets healing, growth begins.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you are sharing parts of your life that may be difficult, painful, or hard to put into words. At The Healing Journey Counseling PLLC, my goal is to make that first step feel a little easier. I created this practice because I believe everyone deserves a warm, safe, and supportive space where they can feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. As your therapist, I approach each client with empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard. I believe you are more than your struggles, symptoms, past experiences, or mistakes. Your story matters, and you deserve a space where you can express yourself honestly while being treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. When working with me, you can expect a collaborative therapeutic relationship. I will not tell you how you should live your life or make decisions for you. Instead, I will walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, identify your strengths, understand patterns that may be affecting your well-being, and develop practical tools that support your goals. Therapy may include building healthier coping skills, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, increasing motivation, or working through difficult life experiences. I understand that everyone enters therapy at a different place. Some clients know exactly what they want to work on, while others may simply know that something does not feel right. You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning. We can start wherever you are and take the process one step at a time. I created The Healing Journey Counseling PLLC with the belief that healing is not a straight line. There may be progress, setbacks, uncertainty, and growth along the way. My hope is to provide a space where you feel supported throughout that journey and empowered to create meaningful change. Where understanding meets healing, growth begins.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you begin therapy with me, we will start by getting to know you and understanding what brings you to counseling. During the first few sessions, we will discuss your current concerns, personal experiences, strengths, goals, and what you would like to accomplish through therapy. This helps us create a treatment approach that is personalized to your needs. A typical session is a safe and supportive space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. We may explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, stressors, and experiences while identifying patterns that may be affecting your well-being. Depending on your goals, we may use approaches such as Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe therapy should be collaborative, so you will have an active role in deciding what we focus on. Some sessions may involve processing emotions and experiences, while others may focus on learning coping skills, challenging unhelpful thoughts, improving emotional regulation, building motivation, setting boundaries, or developing practical steps toward your goals. I will meet you where you are and work at a pace that feels comfortable while also encouraging meaningful growth. There is no expectation that you have everything figured out before coming to therapy. You can simply show up as you are, and we will work together from there. My goal is for therapy to be a warm, judgment-free space where you feel heard, respected, and understood. As we continue working together, we will regularly check in about your progress and make adjustments to treatment based on your changing needs and goals. Your healing journey is your own. My role is to walk alongside you, provide support and understanding, and help you discover the tools and strengths you already have.
