Taylor Baker, LPC Associate

Psychotherapist
2525 Robinhood St, Houston, TX
Taylor Baker is supervised by Angela Salzmann. For many people, therapy is the first time their emotions and experiences are fully validated. I'm passionate about creating a supportive environment where you feel safe to openly explore your thoughts, feelings, and questions. Most of the clients I see struggle with high-functioning anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or people-pleasing tendencies. I especially enjoy working with Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), survivors of childhood trauma, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Using a primarily psychodynamic approach, we work collaboratively to unpack difficult life events, identify barriers that keep you stuck, change old patterns that no longer serve you, and recognize your strengths so you can lead a more fulfilling life. I hold an MEd in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, which informs my understanding of emotional and cognitive development in therapy.

Getting to know Taylor Baker

Taylor Baker is supervised by Angela Salzmann. For many people, therapy is the first time their emotions and experiences are fully validated. What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, compassionate, and client-centered. My approach is primarily informed by evidence-based modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR to treat trauma, anxiety, and depression. Most importantly, I work from an interpersonal and process-oriented lens. This means I strongly believe in the value of the therapist-client relationship as the biggest predictor of success in therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Prior to scheduling an initial session, I offer free 15-minute consultation calls to determine if we might be a good therapeutic fit based on your presenting concerns. The first session is an intake where we talk more about what brings you to therapy and your goals for the process. I recommend weekly 50-minute sessions to strengthen our professional relationship over time, work toward your goals, and evaluate progress.
