Getting to know Taylor Heavey

Hello! My name is Taylor Heavey, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I earned my Master's in Counseling from Cambridge College and have been providing counseling to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples since 2016. My hope is to meet clients where they are in their mental health journey, with a non-judgmental, compassionate, and curious approach. I believe that each individual has their own unique story and, therefore, a unique way of dealing with life's stressors. I also believe each person already possesses the tools they need to thrive, but sometimes we just need a little assistance in discovering our own resiliency. With my guided help, I aim to help clients observe their strengths, address triggers causing dysfunction in their lives, and through compassionate self-examination, learn how to approach life with a renewed sense of strength. I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression, eating disorders, intrusive or dysfunctional thinking, personality disorders, postpartum depression and anxiety, addiction, and more. My approach My approach to therapy is, first and foremost, client-centered-addressing everything with compassion and curiosity to develop a sense of safety around difficult topics. I use cognitive behavioral therapy as well as trauma-informed therapy to highlight dysfunctional ways of thinking or labeling one's life and replace them with a more compassionate lens toward oneself and adaptive coping mechanisms. Together, we will reflect on experiences that have shaped you and find more useful, functional ways of coping. My focus I have worked with clients ranging from 2 years old to 80 years old, including individuals, families, and couples. At this time, due to meeting virtually, I feel I am best able to serve adolescents through adults.
