Taylor Maxey, MS

Psychotherapist
1 E Superior St, Ste 306, Chicago, IL
Taylor Maxey is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Whether you’re navigating a major life shift or simply trying to make sense of everyday stress, I believe no problem is too big or too small. My goal is for you to feel seen, supported, and understood. My professional experience spans community mental health centers, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, and private practice. These diverse settings have deepened my understanding of the many ways people seek support and strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are with flexibility, empathy, and care. At my core, I’m a person-centered clinician who believes therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. I take a collaborative, solution-focused approach, working alongside each client to better understand their unique story and identify meaningful goals that support whole-person wellness. I believe healing happens when we explore the connection between mind, body, and emotions while acknowledging the full range of challenges we face physically, mentally, and emotionally. I incorporate evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), grounded in the belief that our thoughts shape our behaviors and influence how we experience life. I also integrate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), particularly mindfulness and distress tolerance skills, to help clients build resilience and navigate life’s inevitable ups and downs with clarity and self-compassion. While I enjoy working with individuals across the lifespan, my primary experience has been with adolescents, emerging adults, and those navigating the complexities of mid-adulthood. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, working as a therapist before deciding to pursue my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, which I am currently completing.
