“Highly Recommend T’Cia is excellent, attentive, responsive, and has never missed, rescheduled or come late for any appointments. T’Cia is easy to talk to while making sure your points of views are reasonable and grounded. With a good understanding of the struggles that come with big city living and the current societal conditions, she is relatable and comes with countless strategies and suggestions on how to manage a wide range of issues. Even better is there is no lost time because you never have to repeat information from prior sessions. I cannot say enough excellent things. It is unfortunate to be winding down our time but it is only happening because of my relocation. If you need a good therapist, who is engaging and actively listening to you while keeping expectation and view realistic and grounded all in her consistent smile and a friendly demeanor BOOK T’cia. You will not regret it!”

Getting to know T'Cia Chatman

As a licensed social worker with a 25-year career and a Master's in Social Work from Chicago State University, my practice is enriched by my identity as a Black professional and dedication to serving diverse communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals and those navigating intersectionality. Understanding the adversities life presents, I embrace compassion and empathy to offer a therapeutic space where individuals feel empowered to lead emotionally healthier lives. My approach is holistic, tailored to each person's unique experiences and challenges, including anxiety, depression, parenting issues, marital conflicts, life skills, anger management, and trauma. I am deeply committed to empowering marginalized communities, recognizing the importance of affirming identities and honoring the complexities of intersectionality in mental health. My work aims not only to address immediate concerns but also to foster resilience and understanding of societal impacts on well-being. Through a philosophy of inclusivity and respect, I strive to support each client in their journey toward emotional wellness, celebrating the human spirit's strength and potential.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am so sorry, I CANNOT DO SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS. When starting therapy with me, clients should anticipate a unique blend of humor, attentive listening, and the incorporation of everyday experiences to ease the process of exploring emotions and life events. My approach is distinctly client-centered, focusing on your individual needs and goals to shape our sessions. I emphasize a solution-focused strategy, aiming to empower you to find and follow through with effective solutions, while my trauma-informed perspective ensures a sensitive understanding of trauma’s impact on mental health. My practice is enriched by my commitment to embracing diversity and addressing the specific challenges and strengths of various identities, including those connected to race, sexuality, and intersectionality. Whether tackling anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, or past trauma, my objective is to guide you towards a healthier emotional state, leveraging empathy and effective therapeutic techniques. In therapy with me, expect a collaborative and respectful environment where your voice is central. Our work together is about more than just confronting challenges; it’s about fostering resilience, self-awareness, and a journey towards lasting emotional wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process with clients involves consistent scheduling and clear, upfront communication. I exclusively offer telehealth sessions, providing flexibility and accessibility while maintaining a structured approach to therapy. This setup means I'm unable to accommodate same-day appointments, emphasizing the importance of planning and regularity in our sessions. Through this framework, we establish a reliable therapeutic environment where progress and healing can flourish, supported by a steady pace and open dialogue.

T'Chia was wonderful! She was very kind and provided great knowledge on the things discussed. Her presence and how she carried the conversation made our discussion extremely comfortable. I felt as if we were family! I highly recommend T'Chia if you are looking for a therapist.

T’ cia Chatman was very caring and concerned about my situation. Very professional and knowledgeable. Always on time for sessions. She really helped me and I would recommend her to anyone.
Verified patient
T'cia is such a pleasure to work with. I had hesitations about going to a therapist and how to even approach talking about my experiences and feelings. T'cia creates such a warm, comforting environment that I know I can steer the conversation to what is on my mind. She is really great about giving tools to help me work through stressful situations and to also discover more about myself outside of therapy.

While my visits have been 100% online, I've really enjoyed the time that I've had speaking with T'Cia. She is a great listener and communicator, and I really like the fact that she will not push you in any direction to do anything that you don't want to, but rather wil guide you in a direction for you to make your own decisions. I am about a month into my journey and have had a 10/10 experience thus far.
