First in my family to go to college, part of a tiny graduating class that pursued higher education and the only Black woman in my graduate program that I paid for myself. Those experiences taught me what it means to navigate spaces that weren’t built for you and how to thrive anyway. Maya Angelou said, “I can be changed by what happens to me. I’m genuinely the funniest person in my family and friend groups (they’ll all confirm this), and there’s no way to not laugh or smile by the end of our conversations. Healing doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. I work with teens through adults, especially those with trauma histories, LGBTQ+ individuals, and minorities. I take time to study my clients’ cultures and traditions so I can understand you beyond surface level. My clients have told me things like “I would have done therapy long ago if I knew I could have met someone like you” and “My relationships are stronger than I ever thought they could be.” Outside sessions, you’ll find me escaping into different worlds through video games, anime, and manga – I love the immersion aspect. I’m a Twitch moderator, can touch my nose with my tongue (weird flex, I know), and once got a perfect 100% singing “Time Bomb” by All Time Low at karaoke.
