Telisa earned her bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting from LeMoyne–Owen College, a historically Black college in Memphis, Tennessee, and her master's degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. After obtaining her degrees, Telisa worked in outpatient community mental health for approximately nine years, providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy. She also maintains a private practice setting.
