Hello, I'm Teresa. Today, people are more stressed out and depressed than at any other time in my twenty-plus years as a counselor. I want you to know that what you are feeling is not your fault, even though it can seem that way. As a counselor, I want to provide you with the insight to understand what is going on in your mind so that you can begin to get out of the rut that is keeping you back from being fulfilled and pursuing life to its fullest. Many of the discoveries recently made in the fields of neuroscience and cognitive behavior can be translated into very practical steps that will help you realize your potential because doing so will give you fulfillment in your life, regardless of your current situation. I have worked with high school students in New Mexico, with indigenous people in Mexico for ten years, with single mothers in Las Vegas, with immigrants in San Antonio, with parents who struggle with their relationship with their children, and most recently with cancer patients. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, and in addition to psychology, I also hold a college degree in theology. I bring a lot of real-world experience and a passion for staying current with research. I am the author of a book on parenting, as well as a scholarly journal article on alleviating past guilt. Over the years, I’ve learned that every client is a unique individual who has special gifts waiting to be unwrapped. Sometimes the world gets in the way of those gifts. Sometimes, others do not have our best interests at heart. In counseling, I help you remove those limiting beliefs so that your true self can emerge. I specialize in areas such as anxiety, children's mental and behavioral health, depression, family relationships, grief and bereavement, life transitions, military and veteran support, multicultural and diversity issues, PTSD, spirituality, and stress. I also offer SonderMind Video Telehealth for your convenience.
