Psychotherapist
TX
Hi, I am Teresa Hillenbrand, a Licensed Professional Counselor working via telehealth out of San Antonio, TX. I hold a Master’s in Guidance and Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans. I use evidence-based approaches to address real-life problems that burden people. As a counselor, my goal is to provide you with insight into your cognitive life so you can begin to move out of the rut that holds you back from fulfillment and pursuing life to its fullest. When appropriate, I incorporate a Christian perspective into therapy. In counseling, we’ll discover that the world we live in can place significant stress on our God-given body and mind. Sometimes, we get stuck in responses designed by God to protect us, but which end up causing stress, trauma, anxiety, and even depression due to societal pressures. Together, we aim to return to that pure state of Eden—or as close to it as possible—and live according to your values. We do this by reconnecting with your God-given true self and encouraging that true self to flourish in today’s world. We will explore behaviors that prevent you from becoming your true self and heal the parts that led you away from fulfilling your true self in the first place. Through this process, you will reconnect with God, your true self, others, and the world. I want to equip you with tools to understand what has happened, what is happening, and the positive outcomes therapy can bring. My approach combines Christian and evidence-based insights into the human condition and its effects on body and mind, guiding you toward Christian-principled resolutions.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Today people are more stressed out and depressed than at any other time in my twenty-plus years as a counselor. I want you to know that what you are feeling is not your fault, even though it can seem that way. As a counselor, I want to provide you with the insight to understand what is going on in your cognitive and spiritual life so that you can begin to get out of the rut that is keeping you back from being fulfilled and pursuing life to its fullest. Many of the discoveries recently made in the fields of neuroscience and cognitive behavior can be translated into very practical steps that will help you realize your potential because doing so will give you fulfilment in your life regardless of where you find yourself now.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
