Psychotherapist
GA
Teresa a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth counseling to adults across Georgia. I work with people who are navigating trauma, bipolar disorder, substance use, anxiety, depression, and other severe mental health challenges. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are without feeling judged or misunderstood. Many of the people I work with feel like their experiences have been “too much” for others to handle. Maybe you’ve been told to just push through, calm down, or think more positively when what you’re going through is far more complex than that. I believe therapy should be a place where the hard stuff can be talked about honestly and handled with care. My approach to counseling is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping you build real tools for daily life. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and move toward stability. Before private practice, I spent several years working in community mental health supporting individuals with severe mental illness, trauma, and addiction. That experience taught me how important it is to meet people where they are and to focus on progress, not perfection. If your stuff feels like too much right now, you don’t have to carry it alone. Therapy can be a place where things start to make sense again, and where change becomes possible one step at a time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is grounded in compassion, faith, and community. As a Christian, I value love, accountability, and service; however, I provide therapy that honors and respects all cultural, racial, and spiritual backgrounds. I am committed to inclusive and actively support collaboration with community organizations that serve diverse populations. I believe access to quality mental health care should be equitable and culturally affirming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is steady and grounded. I don’t rush. I don’t push. I create a space where you can slow down enough to actually hear what’s happening inside you, maybe for the first time in a long time. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, or Polyvagal Theory. But underneath all the techniques is something simpler: a real human connection where you feel safe enough to be honest. I know what it’s like to sit across from someone and wonder if they really understand. I take that seriously. My job isn’t to fix you. It’s to walk alongside you while you find your own strength.
