Hi there, I'm Teresa!
My name is Teresa Marksity-Leach, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed in the states of Illinois and Indiana. I am based in Peoria, Illinois, and will be working with clients in the state of Indiana via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief/loss using evidence-based practices, including CBT, ACT, EFT, EMDR, and solution- and strength-based interventions. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
My approach
My approach in therapy is client-centered and focused on creating a therapeutic alliance. Together, through motivational interviewing, we will determine goals and utilize various therapeutic interventions to find balance and healing in your life.
My focus
I have found my strengths lie in working with young adults and adults who may be dealing with decisions and transitions in life that feel overwhelming and manifest as depression, anxiety, or disruptions in various areas of their lives. I will work with and support clients as they navigate these challenging periods, developing skills to foster positive coping and self-worth that lead to a more hopeful outlook on life.

My approach is calm, curious, nonjudgmental, and attentive, allowing space to process feelings and emotions related to your personal story and needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 30 years, providing support to clients, patients, and families through some of the most difficult and life-changing events. I believe in the counseling process and that change and healing can happen, leading to a content, balanced, and peaceful life.
