Teri Acosta, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage, and Family Therapist with a master’s degree in Professional Clinical Counseling. My therapeutic style is personal, compassionate, whole person-minded, open, at times humorous, and most importantly, effective. I’ve found that many people seeking therapy feel like there’s an invisible wall between the life they have and the life they want. Attempts to move forward personally, emotionally, relationally, and/or vocational seem to hit the wall. Attempts to build healthy relationships, reduce depression, or put anxiety symptoms hit the same wall- and attempting to improve patterns of communication, or efforts to repair, improve, or leave troubled relationships may feel impossible. My specialties include: Family, couples, and relationship counseling. Helping individuals break free from what holds them down. Helping individuals find freedom to be their best selves. Abuse recovery –Emotional, Spiritual, financial, sexual, psychological, and physical. Individual adult and childhood trauma therapy. Moving from mediocrity to living to full potential. Adjustment issues / Getting unstuck and moving forward. Straightforward and compassionate, bold and gentle, empathetic and challenging. I see my clients as fellow sojourners on the path to amazing. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a Personal trainer and Nutritional Consultant for a bit more than a few decades. For years, I witnessed the interaction between a person’s physical self, their emotions, thought processes, self-perception, and even their relationships. Simplistically stated, it’s as if our separate parts talk amongst themselves. Hurt and pain affect the mind, body, emotions, soul, and spirit. Deep healing needs to do the same. What thrills me about ‘doing therapy’ is the healing journey.
