Terri Martinez, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Terri! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Lake Tahoe, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I work with teens, adults, and older adults, specializing in anxiety, PTSD, depression, and substance abuse. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Strategies, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach As a dedicated social worker specializing in the well-being of teens, adults, and older adults, I am deeply committed to fostering growth, resilience, and empowerment. My approach to therapy varies based on each client's needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, as both help me and the client build a shared understanding of their reality and work together to chart a path forward. I am also a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for those dealing with life transitions and social pressures, often presenting as anxiety, depression, stress, and substance abuse. I work to help clients navigate these periods and build skills that allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to social work and therapy because of a deep curiosity about people's stories and a desire to help others navigate life's challenges. Growing up, I often found myself being the person others came to for support.

We waited three weeks to see the therapist only to discover she was not a couples therapist. Terri was very apologetic and it was the fault of Rula, not hers. But it was disappointing given how long we had been waiting to begin couples therapy.
