Getting to know Terry Lusher

My name is Terry Lusher. I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I earned a Psy. D. in clinical psychology and have maintained a private family counseling center in Lewisburg, WV since 1996. I am also a Vietnam veteran. My approach My approach to things depends on the needs of the client. I like to think I have many useful tools in my toolbox. Overall, I tend to use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy frame work. I also view my client as a physical body, an emotional body, and a spiritual body with all three needing to be in balance. My focus I enjoy working with teens and young adults as well as couples and families. With my own background both personal and military, I work well with clients experiencing trauma and are learning to become survivors. My communication style My communication style is calm, accepting and nonjudgmental. I try to make people feel encouraged and safe. I am able to confront issues quickly and get to the point. My journey to mental healthcare I started into this work when I came back from the military. My first job was working with inner city kids. I could relate to the kids due to my own dysfunctional childhood and the trauma I had experienced. I got hooked and have been in this field ever since. My goals for you My approach to setting goals is to assist each person in determining what is healthy, meaningful and significant for them and then figuring out how to get there. My first session with you The first session is basically getting to know each other.
