Getting to know Tessa Degennaro

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers University–New Brunswick. Throughout my career, my goal has been to deliver compassionate and comprehensive clinical care to clients during some of the most vulnerable and challenging moments in their lives. If you are looking for a therapist who is warm, welcoming, open-minded, and ready to listen, you are on the right path. Finding a therapist that feels like the right fit for yourself or your child can be a big challenge, but I'm here to help ease that process as much as I can. I aim to make sessions feel like a safe space for you to be your genuine self while learning new skills to cope with stressors-big, small, and in-between! The first step is to reach out; I can't wait to meet you! An ideal client for me is a child or adolescent struggling to find a sense of happiness in their day-to-day life. My passion is helping children and teens navigate issues such as bullying, technology and social media use, social skills, hopelessness, low self-esteem, excessive worry and fear, family stress, grief or trauma, peer pressure, and much more. I meet each person where they are and adapt my clinical approach to their needs. CBT, Mindfulness, and DBT are just some of the approaches I use. I also love incorporating art and play techniques to encourage creativity, open expression, and emotional processing.
