Getting to know Tetyana Irvin

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York City. I like to think of my work with my clients as a collaborative process. I create a safe, welcoming space for my clients to share their emotional world, and I am very proactive in being there to help them navigate it. I find that people seeking therapy are often held back by the recurrent patterns in their lives that they may not be fully aware of. These can be patterns in relationships, behaviors, or perspectives. It's very rewarding to help my clients become aware and attuned to those patterns, and to support them as they gradually change these unhelpful patterns over the course of therapy treatment, leading to happier, more fulfilling lives. My specialties include anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, self-esteem, identity, major life transitions, and interpersonal relationship difficulties. In part because I come from a family of professional musicians and I'm very familiar with that world, I enjoy working with clients who are in creative fields. While I have been a New Yorker for a few decades, I am originally from Ukraine, and this part of my identity is very important to me. In my free time, I love to travel and explore new places and cultures, to try out new recipes, to read while my cat naps next to me, and to see live shows (I am an omnivore, and my tastes range from opera to punk).
