Getting to know Theresa Lowe- Wilson

As a clinician, I lead with a person-centered, non-judgemental, and empathetic approach to my clients. My work is centered around a client having self agency and being part of the treatment process. My hopes as your therapist is to not only provide feedback or psychoeducation, but be a support in assisting clients in finding self agency in this nerve wrecking process of deeper understanding of self. I have experience ranging throughout the different lifespans, however aside from being a therapist I am a school social worker. I utilize different therapeutic modalities, however I enjoy using creative outlets such as journal writing and visual arts as a way for clients to express themselves because sometimes words can't explain how much a person may feel and to promote healthy coping skills. If creative outlets aren't your niche, no worries, as we build our therapeutic alliance, with my understanding of different evidence-based practices we will find what method best suits you. Outside of working with clients, I seek a creative outlet to unwind through arts and music which is a common approach I take to my therapeutic approach.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many times after working with clients they are able to utilize their strengths to overcome challenges and be mindful of how much their thoughts and how much their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected and heavily impact one another. Also, being mindful of utilizing healthier coping mechanisms to get through life challenges.
