Theresa Stringer, LCDC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hello, I'm Theresa. My journey into clinical social work began after working as a nurse in the addictions field. My training in the U.S. Army and diverse clinical experiences laid the foundation for my education in social work. I earned my master's degree in social work from Western Carolina University, with a concentration in substance abuse. In my practice, I utilize Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, always approaching my work from a strengths-based and person-centered perspective. I bring a genuine, empathetic, and open-hearted energy into my counseling practice. I offer a safe space for you to open up and process what you're going through. My first career as a nurse allows me to use a holistic approach to identify patterns that may be hindering you from feeling fulfilled and becoming the best version of yourself. I specialize in helping clients with addiction, anxiety, dementia, depression, family relationships, grief and bereavement, intimate and romantic relationships, life transitions, medical issues and physical health, military and veteran support, stress, and traumatic brain injury. Whether you're dealing with stress, navigating a life transition, or seeking support for a medical issue, I'm here to help. Outside of my professional life, I'm a lover of dogs and the outdoors. I believe in the importance of self-care to better serve others and incorporate yoga, pet therapy, and essential oils into my daily routine. My husband and I moved to Austin, Texas from Asheville, NC in May of 2016, and we now reside in Cypress with our three fur babies. If you're looking for a compassionate and dedicated therapist to support you on your journey, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to help you achieve your goals and improve your well-being.
