Getting to know Thomas Dwyer

I specialize in working with men who struggle with self-esteem, relationship difficulties, motivation issues, social anxiety, ADHD, depression, and parenting challenges. The clients I work with generally fall into three groups. The first group struggles with self-esteem, social anxiety, difficulties forming healthy relationships, sensitivity to rejection, uncertainty about their identity, and being self-critical. The second group faces challenges with ADHD, indecisiveness, following through on goals, feeling disorganized, talking compulsively, racing thoughts, having too many ideas, and perfectionism to a fault. The third group includes fathers or husbands who may have difficulty controlling their emotions, connecting meaningfully with their partner or children, or communicating their thoughts and feelings honestly and empathetically. Every client I see is unique, and not everything listed always applies. However, if you see yourself in any of these groups, I encourage you to keep reading. I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support men through these challenges with empathy and understanding.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In working with clients I try my very best to provide a balance of empathy, thoughtful questioning, constructive feedback, and encouragement around problem solving. Over the years I've been told by multiple clients I have a way of telling them things they need to hear without making them feel judged or criticized. Some common goals I help clients in achieving are... To improve interpersonal skills, feel more confident, reduce self-doubt, set goals more effectively, be more action oriented, empathize with others, better understand and communicate their emotional experience, and to learn to love and accept themselves.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Dwyer has been very easy to talk to, not what I expected, Almost feel as I am speaking to a friend. No judgment, just helpful advice.
