Thomas Johnson, LICSW

Psychotherapist
AL
Hello and welcome! I'm Tom Johnson, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) providing telehealth therapy to adults across Alabama. I believe every person deserves to be heard with respect, compassion, and without judgment. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, grief, or major life transitions, we will build on your unique strengths to help you move toward the life you want. I completed my MSW degree from the University of Alabama in 1973 and have spent more than 50 years as a counselor. My career began at Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, then transitioned to serving veterans and their families for 43 years as a mental health clinician with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Since retiring from the Birmingham VA several years ago, I've continued providing online therapy through several telehealth platforms and am currently an approved provider through GrowTherapy for the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can openly discuss your concerns, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward lasting, meaningful change. I would be honored to be part of your journey.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
