Hi there, I'm Thomas! My name is Thom Wilder, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with training and experience in helping clients identify and cope with their challenges. I hold a Master’s in Professional Clinical Counseling from Liberty University and a Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University at Montgomery. I am experienced in CPTSD, PTSD, marriage and relationship struggles, grey divorce issues, conflict management, mood disorders, and chronic illness challenges. I understand the difficulties life presents and seek to assist clients in maximizing their quality of life regardless of obstacles. My approach Each person has unique personality, experiences, strengths, and needs. I prioritize getting to know each client as an individual and listening in a safe, encouraging environment. I customize therapeutic strategies based on my training and experience, driven by client needs and goals. I use techniques from CBT, DBT, trauma-focused therapy, somatic therapy, conflict resolution/management, and marriage and family issues. My focus I work with clients from adolescents to senior adults and understand the developmental needs and challenges each age group faces. Whether dealing with acute stressors, childhood trauma, developmental or traumatic experiences, or issues related to chronic illness, caregiving, and grief, I am here to help. I also assist couples in assessing their relationship dynamics and determining whether to strengthen their relationship or move toward divorce, then proceed to maximize benefits and minimize suffering. My communication style The most important factor in positive therapeutic outcomes is the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client. The American Psychological Association states, “A good (therapeutic) relationship is essential to helping the client connect with, remain in, and get the most from therapy.”
