“I am a "doer" in that I am there to get results. I know some folks don't always communicate what they are needing or looking for in a session. I have PTSD and I am there to do the work. I told Tom what I needed, and he was careful comply. I will do the reps/practice to get to my goals. After a few sessions gathering information, we got down to business of defining my issues and seeking resolution. Tom seems to be there for me in his responses to my situation or circumstances. ”

Getting to know Thomas Wilson

The majority of Americans who struggle with mental health do not receive treatment. If an individual does receive treatment, it's an average of eleven years after the onset of their symptoms. In other words, many individuals are all alone in their suffering. If you are struggling with a life transition, grieving the loss of a loved one, or feeling stuck, please reach out. You might be hesitant to begin psychotherapy because it is unfamiliar, but the process is straightforward. Starting with the first session, you will have plenty of time to discuss your experiences and share your story. Therapy is client-directed, meaning it is at your pace and based on your individual goals. Some standard techniques include monitoring unhelpful thoughts, practicing kinder self-talk, and engaging in holistic, healthy behaviors. If something recently happened to cause you mental pain, it is better to come in sooner rather than later. Earlier treatment typically means faster recovery. If you have symptoms that have been recurring for years, then it is time to gain control over your mental health. I have a wide range of techniques within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eye-Movement Desensitization Therapy to help. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Florida State University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively on your journey to mental wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My life changed when I grabbed a flyer while leaving my undergraduate Biology 101 class. The pamphlet was asking for volunteers for suicide hotlines. At first, I was nervous because I did not know what to expect. My confidence grew as the crisis counseling training taught me how to build deep connections with others, de-escalate troubling emotions, and guide individuals toward resources and support. This volunteer work awakened my passion for counseling, and a semester later, I changed my undergraduate to psychology. Wanting a deeper understanding of therapeutic techniques, I pursued a master's degree in Social Work. Alongside academic growth, I prioritized having diverse work experience. Throughout my career, I have worked in hospitals, community mental health, substance abuse treatment courts, and private practice. My passion for psychotherapy has only grown as I have seen its powerful effects in helping individuals build resilience, manage stress, and enhance their overall well-being. From our first conversation, I hope you feel welcome and supported so you can begin or continue this robust self-growth.

Thomas is one of the most down to earth people I have ever had the fortune of meeting with. I tried a few therapists before Thomas and none ever helped the way he did. Thomas remembers the smallest details and goes above and beyond to make sure any accommodations I have needed are met. I’ve come from a really dark place in my life, felt utterly hopeless and alone, and Thomas in just the last few years of working with me, has helped me out of that dark pit and given me the tools I need to conquer my traumas and fears. He’s always on time, always responds, and made me feel not like a patient, but instead made me feel like a human being with needs and feelings and made me realize I deserve to be happy. Seriously. Thomas is a wonderful human being and goes above and beyond to ensure his patients needs are being met. Some weeks we just shoot the shit, and others we work on really hard things. Thomas is always there no matter what I need. 10/10 would therapy again.
I have been seeing Thomas for several years. Previous to him, i had jumped around through a handful of therapists and none were as personable, understanding, professional, or caring as Thomas. He's been a huge part of my personal progress and I absolutely recommend him to anyone needing a therapist!
