Psychotherapist
NY
Hey there! I’m Tiffanie Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15+ years of experience helping teens, adults, and families untangle the life stuff that keeps them stuck. I know how quickly life can flip upside down — and how healing can look great one week and like, “Why am I crying in the car again?” the next. That’s normal, and we work with it, not against it. I spend a lot of time helping people realize they can heal without getting the apology they’ve been waiting on. We look at your trauma wounds, your triggers, the patterns that keep showing up in your relationships, and why you always end up being the strong one even when you’re exhausted. I’m direct, I’m honest, and I listen closely — because deep down, you usually know what needs to happen. You just need someone to help you trust yourself again. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, messy relationship dynamics, boundary-setting, and supporting women of color who are tired of being everything for everyone but themselves. My clients usually say things like, “I’ve been thinking about what you said all week,” or “Nobody has ever explained it that way before.” That’s what I’m here for — to help things finally make sense. Together, we’ll figure out what keeps tripping you up and build a new blueprint for your life — one that actually includes you in the center. Healing is tough, but it’s absolutely possible… and you don’t have to do it alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Ever walk out of a doctor’s appointment completely confused, wondering what just happened — with 10 new questions and zero answers? Yeah… that will not be your experience with me. At my core, I’m an educator. I break things down in a way that makes sense, and you will walk out of our sessions with a clearer understanding of yourself, your patterns, and why certain things keep showing up in your life. I’m a firm believer that people don’t change just because someone tells them to — real change happens when you understand the why behind your behavior and the cost of staying the same. My clients usually tell me, “I keep replaying what you said,” and honestly, that’s the goal. I want you thinking, connecting dots, and practicing what we talk about outside the session. Therapy is a space for insight, but it’s also a gym for the emotional muscles you’re trying to build — and I will gently (and sometimes not-so-gently) nudge you to use those muscles. You can expect a mix of everything in our work together: tears, belly laughs, jaw drops, moments of deep truth, and those “wait… hold on” realizations that hit you out of nowhere. I will make sure you feel deeply seen, and I’ll also challenge you when fear or old patterns are getting in the way of the life you want. We’re in this together — and I promise, you won’t feel lost or confused in the process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I take a relational, personalized approach — which basically means I want to know you, not just your symptoms. I ask a lot of questions (like… a lot). Not to overwhelm you, but to help you actually think about things instead of staying in survival mode where you’re just reacting, pushing through, and not processing. Survival might have gotten you here, but it won’t get you where you’re trying to go. I’m going to gently (and sometimes boldly) dig up the things you’ve buried — not to make you uncomfortable, but because those “bones” you thought you hid? They show up everywhere: your routines, your relationships, your work, your self-talk, your habits. Ignoring them hasn’t helped… so we’re going to bring them into the light and deal with them together. I’m also very collaborative. I love when clients show up with an agenda, questions, or something they want to work through. That tells me you’re invested in your healing just as much as I am. And yes — I’m that therapist you can send updates to between sessions. Bring the screenshots, the texts, the “tell me if I’m tripping” moments, the pictures… all of it. It’s real life, and it helps us do real work. In our sessions, we talk, we unpack, we connect dots, we challenge old patterns, and we actually do the work. It’s active, it’s intentional, and it’s about helping you build a life that finally feels like yours. Let’s talk. Let’s unpack. Let’s work.
