Psychotherapist
7550 W Interstate 10 Frontage Rd, Unit #800, SAN ANTONIO, TX
I’m Tiffanie Duong, an LPC Associate and owner of Healing Cornerstone Counseling & Wellness, PLLC, supervised by Dr. Aimee Rhodes, LPC-S. I provide individual and couples counseling with a warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach. I believe therapy should be a space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing without feeling judged, rushed, or pressured to have everything figured out. I work with adults and couples navigating relationship concerns, communication difficulties, infidelity and trust repair, grief and loss, pet loss, trauma, major life transitions, and executive or professional burnout. I have a particular passion for helping couples strengthen communication and connection, as well as supporting people through grief—including the unique and often underestimated pain of losing a beloved pet. My approach is grounded in Person-Centered Therapy and integrates evidence-informed techniques from CBT, psychodynamic therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, narrative approaches, and other methods based on each client’s needs. With couples, I incorporate structured communication strategies to help partners slow down difficult conversations, understand recurring patterns, and communicate more effectively. I strive to balance compassion with practical tools. Therapy with me isn’t about being told what to do—it’s about understanding yourself and your relationships more deeply, identifying patterns that may no longer serve you, and developing meaningful ways to move forward. I offer both in-person and virtual counseling for clients in Texas and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, identities, relationships, and life experiences.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy style is warm, conversational, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. You don’t have to come into therapy knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. Part of my role is helping you slow things down, make sense of what you’re experiencing, and identify what you would like to change. I take the time to understand you as a whole person rather than focusing only on symptoms or a diagnosis. Depending on your needs, our work may involve exploring past experiences, recognizing patterns in your thoughts or relationships, processing grief or trauma, developing healthier communication skills, establishing boundaries, or learning practical strategies you can use outside of therapy. For couples, I work to create a balanced environment where both partners feel heard. I do not view my role as deciding who is right or wrong or taking one partner’s side. Instead, we look at the relationship as a whole, identify recurring cycles, and practice healthier ways of communicating, managing conflict, rebuilding trust, and strengthening connection. I can be gentle and supportive while also helping you recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My goal is for therapy to feel like a genuine conversation with purpose—not a clinical interrogation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is focused on getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, relevant history, relationships, strengths, and what you hope will be different as a result of counseling. You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation—I’ll help guide the conversation. From there, we’ll work together to identify your goals and develop a treatment plan that fits your needs. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and may include open conversation, reflection, exploring patterns and emotions, skill-building, psychoeducation, structured exercises, or trauma-focused interventions when appropriate. For couples, early sessions focus on understanding the relationship, each partner’s perspective, recurring communication or conflict patterns, and the goals you share for the relationship. Sessions may include practicing communication skills in real time so that I can help you recognize patterns as they happen and learn different ways of responding to one another. Couples may also receive exercises or goals to practice between sessions. Therapy is individualized, so every session will not look exactly the same. We’ll periodically revisit your goals and progress and adjust our approach when needed. My goal is to provide a space where you feel supported while also doing meaningful work that carries into your everyday life and relationships.
