Getting to know Tiffany Medlin

Everyone faces challenges in life, but the pressure to be perfect can make these challenges feel insurmountable. If you're feeling overwhelmed, please know that you're not alone. It's completely normal to feel like you're struggling to "get it together" or feel pressure to be perfect, especially during major life transitions such as graduation, starting a new career, or becoming a parent. These changes can often trigger insecurities, anxiety, and even depression. It can be incredibly frustrating when you feel like you're doing everything right but still not reaching your goals. I specialize in working with females aged 16 and older as well as LGBTQ+ individuals. I hold a Master's degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University in Dallas, TX, which equips me with the skills and knowledge to support you through these challenges with empathy and understanding.

What should a new client know about working with you?

*We are a counseling practice only and do not offer medication consultations or prescribe medications* I utilize a combination of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and somatic-based practices as the primary methods in each session. This integrated approach allows us to address both the mental and physical aspects of trauma and other mental health concerns. EMDR is widely recognized for its effectiveness in trauma processing. This therapeutic approach helps to reprocess traumatic memories, allowing individuals to integrate these memories in a healthy manner. EMDR also offers a unique way to identify and process stuck sensations that may be hindering your progress, helping to clear blockages that might be holding you back. Somatic-based interventions are another essential component of my approach. These practices help you connect with your body to identify cues related to your mental health. By tuning into physical sensations, we can uncover and address underlying issues that may not be immediately apparent through traditional talk therapy alone. By integrating EMDR and somatic interventions, as well as mindfulness and self-acceptance, we can work collaboratively to move you towards your goals. This holistic approach ensures that we are addressing all aspects of your well-being, creating a more comprehensive and effective treatment plan. In each session, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where you can explore and process your experiences. Together, we can work towards healing and achieving your desired outcomes.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

*We are a counseling practice only and do not offer medication consultations or prescribe medications* First Session: During our first session, we'll chat about your main concerns and what you hope to achieve through therapy. I'll have you fill out some assessments that match your current experiences so we can create a plan to address these concerns. My goal is to work with you to determine your desired outcome. Weekly Meetings: After our initial session, we'll meet weekly to tackle the identified concerns. We'll learn stress management and grounding techniques and pinpoint areas where you might feel stuck. When it's appropriate, we'll use EMDR to reprocess memories and sensations to help you move towards your goals. I'll also have you set small goals for yourself each week. This way, you can work towards your overall goals while also identifying and overcoming obstacles. Reaching Your Goals: Once you've achieved your primary goals, we'll identify any additional needs before concluding our sessions. This ensures you feel confident in managing situations with the tools and skills you've developed.
