Hello, my name is Tim, and I'm a licensed independent social worker (MSW). I have been married for 23 years and have three wonderful children, aged 18, 15, and 8. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working in various settings, which has enriched my understanding and approach to therapy. I spent about 10 years working in residential treatment centers with children and teens, and my wife and I also served as professional and therapeutic foster parents for about 5 years. Additionally, I worked as a school counselor in Lorain, OH, for 8 years, supporting students in middle schools, junior highs, and high schools. When the COVID-19 pandemic led to school closures, I transitioned to working as a counselor in nursing homes for 3 years. This diverse experience has given me a broad perspective on the challenges individuals face at different life stages. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that practical steps and skills can bring about significant change. I emphasize understanding how a person's identity influences them and how to heal a damaged identity. I incorporate many concepts from Brief, Solution-Focused Therapy in my practice, which means you can generally expect to see significant changes fairly early in therapy. My ultimate goal is to teach you how to be your own therapist, eventually making my role unnecessary. I specialize in a wide range of areas, including addiction, ADHD, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, family relationships, intimate/romantic relationships, life transitions, PTSD, spirituality, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, and trauma.
