Getting to know Timi Smart

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Behavioral Health Therapist currently licensed only in the state of Tennessee. I have worked in other states and hope to add Texas and Nevada to my licenses again in the future. I earned my Master's in Social Work from West Texas A&M University. I have worked in the medical field for 30+ years, helping patients and their families through some of the most difficult times of life, including Hospice and Palliative Care needs. My experience includes supporting those with postpartum depression, codependency, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, couples therapy, and individual therapy. I have been told that I have a very soft, soothing voice and a caring, lighthearted demeanor. During our sessions, I make it as comfortable as possible for you to be yourself, to feel safe, and to have a caring yet honest therapeutic relationship. I tend to lean more on a client-centered, solution-focused therapy approach, utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy and other trauma therapies as needed. I also can offer Christian therapy if desired, but I do not mention that unless it is requested. My goal is to assist you by providing techniques and teaching skills to help you manage your emotions and life's difficulties so that eventually, you can practice these skills daily to maintain your mental health for the future. My desire is to bring you to a level of peace and joy in your life-no matter the circumstances around you, you can control your perception of them. I look forward to helping you feel whole and find your purpose in this life. I cannot wait to get started helping you reach your goals and become who you wish to be.
