Getting to know Timothy Cullitan

Welcome—I’m glad you’re here. Life can be overwhelming, and at times, we all need a safe, supportive space to make sense of our experiences and reconnect with what matters most. What should a new client know about working with you?

Many people I work with come to me feeling overwhelmed, caught in patterns they can’t seem to break, or disconnected from themselves and those around them. Sometimes, substance use or other compulsive behaviors have become the only way they know to cope. For others, anxiety fuels constant worry and self-doubt, while depression can drain motivation, energy, and joy from daily life. In our work together, I provide a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore what’s really going on beneath the surface. I take a collaborative approach—meaning we work as partners to uncover the roots of your struggles, identify what’s been holding you back, and find practical, achievable steps toward change. I draw from evidence-based practices while tailoring each session to your unique needs, pace, and goals. My focus is on helping you build awareness, learn effective coping tools, and make choices that support the life you want to live. Change is rarely a straight line, but with support, insight, and persistence, meaningful and lasting growth is possible.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy works best when it’s personalized, so each treatment plan is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and pace. While our work will always reflect your specific situation, I often draw from several complementary approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you clarify your core values and take meaningful actions aligned with them. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen healthy coping skills, and build practical tools you can use in everyday life. Psychodynamic and Existential therapies to explore the deeper patterns, life experiences, and beliefs that may be shaping your current challenges. In our sessions, we’ll combine practical skill-building with thoughtful exploration, allowing you to both address immediate concerns and understand the bigger picture of your life. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered—so you can move toward greater insight, emotional balance, and a more connected, purposeful life.
