Getting to know Timothy Johnston II

You will find change, healing, and empowerment through endless grace. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, which equips me to support you on your journey toward growth and well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My name is Tim Johnston and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. I own my solo practice, Waves of Grace Counseling. I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. I have worked in community mental health and private practice. My specialties are helping individuals with anxiety, depression and trauma. I provide person centered therapy with an integration of cognitive behavioral therapies. I also use a psycho dynamic approach to help each person understand more about how their childhood and early life experiences might be currently affecting them. Christian based counseling is also part of my approach for clients that strongly identify with their faith and want to explore scripture more and how it applies to their situation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session together, we will start with introductions to get to know each other and then begin to explore the specific challenges you are experiencing and what you want to accomplish through your counseling journey. From here, I will begin to create a treatment plan that is specific to your strengths, needs, and wants. I provide a person centered and trauma informed approach while integrating cognitive behavioral therapies, psychodynamic therapy and Christian based counseling. We will address all issues you are needing to talk about. Gaining self awareness will be a significant aspect of counseling and we will use this self awareness to help you learn what is causing you problems, how you can heal, and start feeling empowered to live differently.
