Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Timothy! Timothy Moriarty - LCPC (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor), Crisis Intervention Trained. My therapeutic approach is based upon my personal history, which was shaped by my son's diagnosis with Autism and a 27-year law enforcement career. Having seen people in crisis daily, I am fully aware that every person's presenting problems are unique and individualistic. Therapy must be tailored to the individual, and active listening and establishing a rapport with my clients have suited me well as a therapist. My approach Therapy happens when a client is able to verbalize their truth and question what barriers are currently constructed that limit them from finding joy and purpose in their life. My focus I primarily see individuals but have worked with couples and families. Most of my clients are dealing with symptoms based on some form of depression and anxiety. I have worked with many military personnel and first responders who have been overwhelmed with trauma and feelings of despair. My communication style I am an active listener who likes to ask difficult questions to ensure what the client is saying is what I am hearing. Communication is always the key to finding understanding and creating a healthy therapeutic connection. My journey to therapy My journey began with the first officer I knew who committed suicide, and shortly after, my son was diagnosed with Autism. I was angry and needed to find answers to my mental health questions, so I began pursuing a Master's Degree in Counseling at Adler University in Chicago. My goals for you I feel goals should come naturally in session. If both the client(s) and therapist are committed, the results and goals will happen with acceptance and increased self-awareness. My first session with you Honesty and sincerity.
