Are there things in your life that you want to change to be happier, feel better about yourself, come to terms with the past, or have better relationships with others? If so, I believe counseling can help you achieve the kind of life you want. I'm a clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression, with over 20 years of experience as a therapist. I hold a PhD in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas, Austin, and I am trained in multiple types of therapies. Originally from Oregon, I have spent most of my adult life in Texas, as well as several years overseas in Asia and Europe. In addition to private practice, I have served as a military psychologist, Veterans Affairs psychologist, PTSD clinic director, Psycho-Social Rehabilitation clinic director, and adjunct clinical assistant professor at UT Health medical school. I have also participated in major research projects focused on the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. I believe therapy is both a science and an art, and my knowledge of clinical research greatly enhances the effectiveness of counseling. I have found counseling to be very effective in helping people make meaningful changes, develop a healthier sense of self, build more satisfying relationships, and improve their overall quality of life. I'm confident that with effort and the right treatment plan, you can meet your goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

It can be scary to start counseling, but I'll do my best to help you feel comfortable and to have a collaborative relationship with you. Your counseling will begin with an assessment of your concerns, development of specific goals for the changes you would like to make, and a plan to help you get there. Your plan will involve a limited number of weekly sessions, between-session practice of therapeutic activities, and regular reassessment of progress. I have found that most clients can meet their goals in 3-6 months if they follow their plan consistently.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
