Getting to know Todd Provenzano

Hello, I’m Todd Provenzano, LPCC-S, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Ohio with over 15 years of experience in mental health care. I hold a Master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University. My clinical background includes delivering and supervising a range of behavioral health services for children, adolescents, adults, and families in both outpatient and community-based settings. In addition to direct clinical work, I have trained and mentored emerging therapists and served in leadership roles focused on improving care quality, clinical outcomes, and trauma-informed practices. I specialize in trauma-informed care, family systems therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy. My approach is deeply rooted in collaboration, empowerment, and practical skill-building—helping clients gain insight, develop strategies, and create meaningful change in their lives. Beyond my clinical work, I have taught graduate-level university counseling courses, where I help train the next generation of mental health professionals. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, or simply seeking personal growth, I’m here to provide a safe, supportive space to explore your concerns and move toward healing. If you’re looking for an empathetic, practical, and collaborative therapist to walk alongside you in your journey, I invite you to take the next step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering insights, strategies, and encouragement as you navigate challenges and work toward your goals. I take a compassionate yet practical approach, blending evidence-based techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy with a strong foundation in person-centered and trauma-informed care. This means that while I provide structured guidance, I also prioritize emotional safety, trust, and respect—ensuring that therapy moves at a pace that feels right for you. My clients often describe me as warm, engaging, and supportive, with a focus on empowering them to make meaningful progress. I strive to create a nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, validated, and equipped to face life’s challenges. Our work together will be goal-oriented, but also flexible—we’ll identify what’s most important to you, explore your strengths, and develop realistic, achievable strategies to help you feel more in control and confident in your path forward. Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, relationship concerns, career transitions, or deeper personal growth, I’m here to support you with practical tools, genuine empathy, and a belief in your resilience.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your current concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We’ll also discuss any past experiences with counseling, what has helped (or not helped) in the past, and begin shaping a plan tailored to your needs. This session is about setting a strong foundation for trust, collaboration, and clarity. From there, our sessions will be structured but flexible, based on what feels most relevant and helpful to you. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, motivational interviewing, family systems therapy, and solution-focused therapy, ensuring that our work is both practical and meaningful. A typical session may include: * Checking in: Exploring recent experiences, emotions, and any progress or challenges since our last meeting. Processing experiences: Examining patterns of thought, emotions, and behaviors while identifying opportunities for growth. * Developing coping strategies: Learning and practicing tools for stress management, decision-making, emotional regulation, or relationship skills. * Setting small, achievable goals: Creating realistic steps to apply insights and strategies in daily life. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process—our sessions will evolve based on your needs. Some days, we may dive into deep personal exploration; other days, we may focus on practical problem-solving or refining coping strategies. My goal is to support you in creating meaningful, lasting change—helping you navigate challenges with clarity, resilience, and confidence.
