Ms. Kumar utilizes a combination of compassion and person-centered approaches to assist individuals feel safe and comfortable discussing deeply personal issues. Through therapy, Ms. Kumar assists clients in connecting with their inner strength in order to promote a feeling of empowerment and increased happiness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your initial session we will discuss what brought you to therapy, if you have any past experience in therapy and go over your background. This will involve any mental health history, medical concerns, familial history and trauma. We will only get into details as far as you are comfortable, but the more you share, the easier it will be for us to determine how best to move forward together. You will be asked to share what you are hoping to get out of therapy and we will review ways we can work together to help you achieve that goal. No two sessions are exactly the same, but you are always encouraged to voice your wants, likes, dislikes and preferences. You may be challenged to try new things or different strategies than you have before, but will never be asked to do anything you are not comfortable with. You will get out of therapy whatever you put into it. I am just here as a guide to help you see yourself through a new, healing perspective.
