Getting to know Torria Richardson

I have worked in mental health for over 10 years, with a background in dual diagnosis clients. Most of my clients have both mental health and substance abuse issues. The clients I have worked with throughout the years have a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, and anger management, as well as more serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. I also have experience working with physical and sexual trauma, emotional abuse, substance abuse, and addiction. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Troy University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have the ability to understand and share the feelings of my client to build trust and rapport. Being an attentive listener demonstrates my commitment to my clients and their well-being. Being aware of verbal and non-verbal cues of my client, which allows for a more thorough assessment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to provide a meaningful non-judgmental experience and a safe place to explore the root cause of your symptoms/issues that you are experiencing. With this person-centered approach, the client takes the lead in their recovery.
