Tracey Holmes, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I became a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to the moments when people feel most misunderstood, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next step. Long before I had the language for it, I found myself listening closely, helping people organize their thoughts, and making space for emotions that didn’t seem to have anywhere else to go. Over time, I realized those moments weren’t random—they were the places where I felt most purposeful. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. My goal is to create a space where you can show up as you are, without feeling pressured to have everything figured out. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, difficult past experiences, or simply feeling stuck, you deserve a space where your experiences are taken seriously and your voice is heard.

Getting to know Tracey Holmes

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and the belief that people deserve to be understood within the full context of their lives. I don’t believe therapy should feel rushed or like a one-size-fits-all process. Instead, I take the time to understand who you are, what you’ve experienced, and what you hope to gain from our work together. Together, we’ll explore the patterns, experiences, relationships, and emotions that may be influencing how you feel today. I’ll help you make sense of what you’re experiencing while also identifying practical tools and strategies that can support you outside of our sessions. Therapy with me is a collaborative process—your perspective, values, culture, identity, and goals all matter in shaping the direction of our work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You can expect a supportive and thoughtful environment where you don’t have to censor yourself or have the “right” words for what you’re feeling. Some sessions may involve exploring deeper experiences and patterns, while others may focus on navigating something happening in your life right now. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful for you. My role isn’t to tell you who you should be or what decisions you should make. Instead, I’m here to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your voice, recognize your existing strengths, and develop tools that help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Most importantly, I want therapy to feel like a space that belongs to you. We’ll work toward your goals at your pace, in your language, and with your needs at the center of the process. You don’t have to have everything figured out before beginning—sometimes choosing to start is the first step toward creating meaningful change.
