What should a new client know about working with you?

During each session, I commit to meeting you where you are each day. That means I will help you during times of struggle even if that means pausing the current work we are doing to address the days' struggles. I commit to helping you locate resources to assist you when your basic needs are not being met. I am very laid back but will push you to reach your greatest potential by helping you think on a deeper level, question the motives behind your decisions, challenge your thoughts and give you practical exercises to work on outside of session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I generally use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) during sessions. CBT is talk therapy or psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals recognize and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. For trauma related sessions, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.
