Tracy LaChapelle, LPC

Psychotherapist
CT
I am Dr. Tracy LaChapelle, also known as ?Dr. T.? I hold a Master?s in Counseling from Rhode Island College and an EdD from National University. My approach is strength-based and person-centered to relieve symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, relationship issues, or adjusting to transitions. My focus areas are trauma-informed, neurodiversity/Autism-affirming, and gender-affirming (LGBTQIA2S+). My approach The motivational interviewing approach empowers clients to explore, choose what is best for them, and implement effective coping strategies to feel better. I support clients in achieving their goals using cognitive-behavioral therapy to challenge, refocus, or reframe negative thoughts. My focus Clients I work with often feel stuck and need coaching or support to overcome obstacles, learn to be their own therapists, and solve problems. Many say they had therapists who were not helpful; my nonjudgmental style allows them to be more accepting of their unique selves. My communication style My style is empathetic, compassionate, direct, with a sense of humor. My journey to mental healthcare I love empowering clients to be their unique selves, recognize strengths, and build healthy relationships. Assisting clients to be in the driver?s seat means they already know what they want and where to go; it?s a matter of removing obstacles. My goals for you Insurance companies require updating treatment plan progress within six months; however, I ask clients how they would know they felt better in a week or 30 days. My first session with you In the first session, I review informed consent, HIPAA, confidentiality, practice policies including cancellation, and communication procedures. I respond to all contacts within 24 hours or sooner. Clients can share their experiences in ways they feel comfortable.
