“TJ Mayes has been working with our son for more than 5 years now and we couldn't be happier with the relationship they have established. TJ is punctual and efficient, both of which are important to me as a parent. More importantly, he is compassionate and maintains the confidentiality required between he and our son. However, I am included whenever it is necessary and my input is always appreciated and considered. We are thrilled that our son has someone with whom he is comfortable discussing difficult things. We cannot recommend TJ strongly enough! ”

Getting to know Tracy Mayes

In my practice, you will find that my approach to working with clients is based on understanding, compassion, creativity, and collaboration. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 18 years of experience working with adults, families, and children. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and a Bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University. Whether you are seeking support with circumstances in your personal life, career, parenting, or relationships, our time together can help you find the clarity you might be seeking. My professional experiences and specialties include depression, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, identity issues, men’s issues, tech addictions, substance use, anger control, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more. I often incorporate evidence-based therapy models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Collaborative Problem Solving into my practice. I am currently accepting new clients who are experiencing problems both big and small and who are ready to build on the strengths and resiliency they already possess in order to reach a healthier, productive, and more fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect compassionate and comfortable talk therapy here. It is always focused on the client's needs and conducted in a way that will help the client move towards the outcomes that they want to achieve. Sometimes, the client is not sure exactly what they want out of the therapy and that is ok too- as it can be a place to explore what a more fulfilling life might look like for that person. There is no issue too big or small to be addressed in therapy here. Therapy is often a place to be seen, heard, and understood while "unpacking" the things that steal our peace or occupy our minds.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session is around 60 minutes and is conducted via Zoom. The initial few sessions will be gathering information and exploring what the client would like to gain from therapy. From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process in which we pursue change and healing through the therapeutic relationship.

T.J. is very easy to talk to, an empathic listener, and consistently helps me re-frame and unpack the topics I bring to session. I often see things in a new light after a session and I truly value the work we do together.
I've been working with TJ for a couple of years, and he's helped me transition into a much closer version of the person I want to be. I'm a better Dad, husband, and person thanks to the work he's guided me through. If you think you may need a therapist, do yourself a favor and reach out to TJ. You deserve it.
