Trevor James, CMHC

Trevor James, CMHC

Psychotherapist
375 N Main St, Ste 202, Kaysville, UT
I’m a clinical mental health counselor, and I specialize in helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, and behavioral challenges—especially when those issues feel stuck in patterns that are difficult to break. My background includes working with high-risk adolescents in residential and detention settings, which has shaped my ability to stay grounded and effective in complex situations. I focus on helping clients process difficult experiences while building practical tools that improve day-to-day functioning. I use evidence-based approaches like EMDR, CBT, CPT, and attachment-based therapy. When appropriate, I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) and integration support as part of a broader treatment plan.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is straightforward, supportive, and focused on results. I’ll meet you where you are, but I’ll also help you actively work toward change. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. We’ll tailor the process to your needs, whether that means focusing on processing trauma, building coping strategies, or addressing behavioral patterns that are getting in your way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by identifying what’s bringing you in and what patterns or challenges you want to change. Early sessions focus on building understanding and developing tools to help you manage symptoms more effectively. From there, we may incorporate approaches like EMDR or CPT to process underlying experiences contributing to those patterns. Sessions are collaborative and goal-oriented, with a focus on helping you create real, lasting change—not just short-term relief.
