My journey to becoming a licensed mental health counselor in New York began with me obtaining a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and an Advanced Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University, CW Post campus. My areas of areas of clinical expertise include treating depression, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), autism spectrum disorder, emotional trauma, childhood behavior disorders, stress management, self-esteem building, career counseling, relationship conflict and other personal life adjustment issues. I have over twenty-five years of counseling experience, and I am comfortable working with individuals from all age ranges, including children, adolescents, young adults, and individuals in midlife and beyond. Utilizing both a person-centered and cognitive behavioral approach to counseling, I provide clients with compassionate care, emphasizing the teaching of effective coping skills and strategies for improving their lives. In addition to being a mental health counselor, I have been teaching psychology as an adjunct professor for over twenty years. The skills and experience that I have obtained from working with both college and high school students over the years have helped me to become particularly effective at providing guidance to individuals who are either in the early stages of figuring out their goals for college and future career, or individuals who are in the process of contemplating a career change.
