Getting to know Tugba Guven

Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, bogged down by self-doubt, or stuck in a cycle of people-pleasing and guilt? You're definitely not alone! At Talks with Tea Therapy, I'm passionate about helping young adults, especially my fellow Millennials and Gen Z, navigate life's ups and downs-whether it's tackling academic stress, relationship hurdles, career uncertainties, or the unique cultural pressures you face as a child of immigrants. With over 9 years in the field of mental health and a Master's in Clinical Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work, I'm here to help you find your balance. I'm Tugba, but you can call me Tee, and I can't wait to support you on this journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with clients facing anxiety, depression, or trauma related to relationships and family, especially children of immigrants and individuals from Middle Eastern and Asian backgrounds. I understand how culture shapes your experiences, and I strive to provide a safe, open space for reflection and discussion.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use creative approaches to therapy, including writing, visual arts, psychodrama, and somatic techniques. If traditional talk therapy hasn’t quite resonated with you, these methods can make the process more engaging and help you express yourself in natural ways. Together, we’ll learn to listen to your emotions and respond in ways that truly work for you!

Finding a therapist that truly listens is so difficult butI’m so glad I connected with Tugba. I highly recommend because of her professionalism, knowledge and kindness
Talking with Tee has been exactly what my soul needs! I was surprised by how incredibly easy it was to open up during our first session. As a 29-year-old daughter of immigrant parents, Tee helped me notice how some of my thought patterns could be looked at differently - through a lens of opportunity rather than a byproduct of childhood experiences. For a while, I struggled with finding a therapist. I always left feeling misunderstood and empty. My sessions with Tee are so different! She allows me the space to be authentically ME and offers a wealth of knowledge that I've found so empowering in my journey towards becoming the best version of myself. Thank you for being my therapist, Tee!
