Getting to know Twyla Sanks

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges with clarity, resilience, and purpose. I bring a compassionate, straightforward approach to therapy, creating a supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful change. In addition to clinical work, I am a former school guidance counselor with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families through academic, social, and emotional challenges. I understand the complexities of the educational system and helps clients navigate school-related concerns, including behavioral issues, stress, transitions, and family-school dynamics. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based approach effective in treating trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. I also completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in the Gottman Method, allowing her to effectively support couples in improving communication, rebuilding trust, and strengthening their relationships. My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, helping clients identify unhelpful patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and focus on achievable goals. I am committed to helping clients move forward with confidence, whether they are working through trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, or personal growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The clients I see generally see, say that they feel better after sessions. You can expect to leave with techniques and strategies that can be employed immediately and are easily integrated into their everyday life and situations. I work to take the fear and anxiety out of therapy. Bring a cup of tea and let's talk.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
