“Unlike other therapists I’ve seen in the past, Tzvi does more listening than talking and encouraged me to logically arrive at my own conclusions and plans for action. Others would give me homework, but this approach allowed me to air as many of my feelings as as I wanted, which was therapeutic in and of itself.
Tzvi has a pleasant personality, yet isn’t just a sponge—he will gently challenge my perspective as needed.”

Getting to know Tzvi Friedman
My practice is currently limited to adult male clients. I work with men who want to understand themselves at a deeper level—not just manage symptoms or be told what to do. My focus is helping you develop a respectful, non-judgmental relationship with your inner world so that change can happen from the inside out.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Bellevue University and have extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, addiction, grief, and life transitions. Much of my work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), which understands distress as arising from protective parts of us that once had good reasons for doing what they do.
Rather than pathologizing or forcing change, we slow things down and listen carefully to what is happening inside. Over time, this allows clarity, self-trust, and a more grounded sense of self to emerge naturally.
This work is not about quick fixes or surface-level coping strategies. It’s for men who are willing to be honest, curious, and patient with themselves.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I don’t approach therapy with an agenda to “fix” you or push you toward change before you’re ready. Symptoms, behaviors, and resistance are understood as meaningful—not problems to be eliminated.
You won’t be pressured to talk about anything you’re not ready for, and you won’t be given generic advice or techniques disconnected from your inner experience. Instead, we pay close attention to the different parts of you that show up—especially the ones that feel stuck, protective, overwhelmed, or shut down.
Clients who do well with me are those who are open to self-reflection, can tolerate slowing down, and are interested in understanding why they feel the way they do, not just how to make it stop.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Sessions are 55 minutes and are intentionally unhurried. The work unfolds at a pace guided by your internal system rather than external expectations.
Our sessions focus on developing safety, curiosity, and internal trust. From that foundation, we explore patterns, relationships, and emotional responses as they arise—always with respect for the protective roles different parts of you may be playing.
Therapy with me is collaborative and depth-oriented. I’m actively engaged, attentive, and grounded, while honoring that your system ultimately leads the way. Over time, this process tends to support greater emotional regulation, clarity, and a more stable connection to yourself.

Tzvi has been speaking to our son for nearly 2 months. He has been an amazing help to our son with the issues he had been having at school. We like that Tvzi takes time to communicate with us to make sure that both our son and us as parents are happy. My son loves going to therapy because of Tzvi. He always walks out skipping and happy, when he wasn't originally very excited about the idea of going to therapy. We drive 30 minutes to see Tzvi because of how great he is. Highly recommend him to anyone, especially for teens!

As a therapist myself, I often find it difficult to find a clinician that thinks outside of the box enough for me and doesn't just use typical trademark tools of counseling. A lot of CBT and DBT techniques are great, but when you already paid money for school to learn how to use them with clients it’s a bit redundant, so it’s nice to have a clinician that views things through an interpersonal type lens to offer feedback and suggestions. This allows him to offer support that’s truly personalized to you and the specific situation or problem you’re experiencing; none of it’s just “from the textbook” which is highly appreciated for someone like me. I’d highly recommend him for anyone who’s looking for a clinician that offers more than typical run-of-the-mill type therapeutic guidance that can be found all over the internet or phone apps now. He offers real therapy which is sometimes hard to find now.
