Getting to know Valarie Anderson

Welcome to my practice, CALM Therapy Group. I am a clinical social worker licensed in Indiana and Louisiana. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Purdue University and my Master's degree from IUPUI. With 25 years of experience in the behavioral health field, I have worked with individuals facing a variety of needs and conditions. I am an empathetic and genuine therapist who believes in the importance of maintaining a positive mindset. We all need someone to listen without judgment to our feelings, emotions, and past decisions. Life presents many challenges, and together we will work through them while exploring how our past experiences have shaped us. I am also a wife and mother of six, and I understand the trials and tribulations of working full time while managing a household.

I love that Valarie is close to my age, has children and a husband and understands where i'm coming from.
She makes you so comfortable you feel like you are talking to a friend (one that won't tell anyone what you say)
Intelligent, open, understanding and super funny. I would be a completely unhealthy person without her.
Valarie is simply the best counselor ever. She is understanding and kind. Top notch…the best.
Valerie is a wonderful person. I thoroughly enjoy my therapy sessions with her.
Valerie is great. She offers great advice and coping mechanisms.
I appreciate Valarie's honesty and direct approach.
Valarie seems very down to earth and relatable. I really felt good about our first session and look forward to healing and growing with her help.
She is very kind and understanding. Her therapy style is very conversational and I feeling like I can talk to her about anything and she will listen and understand.
It's very easy to talk to Valarie about my life. She doesn't judge and affirms that she doesn't just hear me. She listens. As I learned being an ex-military wife, in order to solve a problem, you need to "work the problem". Valarie is helping me work the problems by repeating what I say in a different way. She is essentially putting a different spin on things. I believe it will eventually help me cope with these ongoing challenges in a more healthy way.
Easy to talk to. Sometimes distracted.
I feel comfortable speaking with her and feel as though I can be honest without judgement. She's made me feel more confident. I thoroughly enjoy our sessions and look forward to them.
She's great!
Valerie is amazing. She is the first therapist that I have felt completely comfortable with and have been able to open up to. Highly recommend!
Val is extremely compassionate and patient. She has a great sense of humor and keeps me grounded. She is by far the best therapist I have had (15+ years in/out of therapy).
Love my sessions with Valarie.
