“I had a great experience with Valentina from the first time that we met. She has a soothing voice that immediately calmed my anxiety. Valentina was easy to talk to and challenged me when I needed it the most. I learned so much skills working with her and I would go back to her anytime if I feel I am no longer in a great space. I had so many therapists over the years and I can truly say she was the best I had.”

Getting to know Valentina Colon

Valentina is a licensed therapist specializing in anxiety, childhood trauma, and co-parenting coaching. She holds a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York, and a Bachelor's degree from Long Island University. With extensive experience in mental health clinics, school systems, and hospitals, Valentina provides compassionate, evidence-based care to help individuals heal, grow, and thrive. Known for a trauma-informed approach, Valentina empowers clients to manage anxiety, process unresolved childhood experiences, and navigate the complexities of co-parenting through one-on-one therapy and co-parent coaching with families. Passionate about fostering resilience and connection, she helps clients create healthier relationships and build fulfilling lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach blends empathy with practical strategies, creating a therapeutic space that’s nonjudgmental, relaxed, and engaging. I use methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, psychoanalysis, inner child/shadow work, and to help you uncover the root to patterns, heal from past wounds, and reclaim a sense of peace and confidence. My approach to co-parent coaching includes a plan to improve communication, conflict resolution and crisis intervention.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session would be tailored to the clients needs and goals for therapy. First, we would have a 10-15 minute consultation call, followed by an intake session to get to know each other and set the tone for therapeutic relationship. Then we will start to do the work via one on one therapy sessions or co-parent coaching sessions.

Highly recommend! Valentina is a true professional with a humanistic touch.

I’ve seen Valentina for over a year now and she has truly made a difference. She is insightful and asks thought ;provoking questions. She is flexible and has worked with my availability. Also every session is time well spent. Again, highly recommend.
As someone who always hated therapy, seeing Valentina definitely changed my perspective on it. She is amazing at what she does and I could recommend someone more.
I’ve had a couple sessions now with Dr. Colon. She’s great! Therapy is certainly relationship building so I’m always a little nervous I may not click with a therapist but that wasn’t the case with Valentina. She’s just a genuinely warm human being and very thoughtful with the guidance and observations she gives. She gives me exercises to think with another persons perspective and exercises to do with people who’ve hurt me so I don’t approach situations from a point of frustration. She’s really helped me identify things I can work on within myself. I’m very grateful for her expertise and her existence.
